born out of passion for tennis, writing and acting like a professional amateur
Howdy. I’m Susanna, Estonian living in Belgium. After riding horses for 17 years, I woke up one day in late 2024 and decided that, after having held a racket maybe four times in my entire life, tennis is where it’s at. For a person who identifies as a perfectionist and has dreamt of being a professional athlete, choosing a sport where the first doesn’t exist and the second should have been addressed when I was 5, tennis might have actually been one of the most questionable ‘how hard can it be’ side quests I have ever done. However, (un)fortunately I’m hooked.
Looking at the world of tennis, you see professionals blasting their achievements (deservedly so) on every corner of the internet but there don’t seem to be many competitive amateur level players who started the sport in their adulthood and share their journey in real time. As someone who’s passionate about writing almost as much as I’m about hitting yellow balls, documenting my journey as well as everything I have learned and experienced along the way seemed like a fun thing to do.
PSA: this is by no means the type of tennis blog where I’m going to bring you stats about another sincaraz final, test 10 different types of strings or discuss the politics of WTA and ATP. I’m simply not qualified to do this. This is about personal experiences and personal experiences only. I hope you enjoy and if you don’t then that’s also okay.
